The Three Followings
There are three well-established Followings that are led by one individual leader each and have their own set of laws and moral guides. Click on the territory names to be taken to a more detailed post of each Following.
Bewildered Cove is considered a "good" following led by a just and patient ruler.
The Wise Longplains are considered a "neutral" following, and are led by a new leader taking the place of his late mother.
The Lawful Marsh is considered another "neutral/strict" following, led by a very old spinsorus who deals in fairness and justice, never taking sides.
10/13/2023 We're finally opening! Please visit THIS page, as it explains we're doing a sort of "soft-launch" and are welcoming any keen eyes that find issues we may have missed as you go through the site making your characters and writing. Thank you for visiting, or thank you for joining! Also in the welcome page you'll find our discord server.

EXPLAINING MUTATIONS
â–¼
As you gather scales from posting, you'll soon have enough to go the the Scale Exchange shop and buy from an ever-growing array of OOC customizations, character customizations, and mutations for your characters. This briefing will give you an idea of what mutations can do to your dragon/dinosaur and their offspring down the line. â–¼
Cosmetic Mutations
As the name suggests, these mutations don't do any harm to your character. These are mutations like abnormal patterns and colors (not albinism/melanism), extra spikes, ect. These do not effect your character negatively, and they may be passed on to the character's offspring. â–¼
Spikes Mutation: -→ The "Spikes Mutation" allows dragons with minor spikes to have longer or extra spikes, and dinosaurs without spikes to grow small spikes; keep in mind these are only spikes along the back, tail, legs, ect. and can be no longer than 1-2 inches. These spikes are not big or thick enough to be weapons and are only for display.
Larger Horns: -→ The "Larger Horns Mutation" allows dragons and dinosaurs with horns or horn-like body structures to let them grow slightly longer, only by 1-2 inches. The horns/horn-like body structures can't do much if any extra damage, but can be useful when looking for a mate as the larger structures may attract more females.
Minor Mutations
Minor mutations are things such as albinism, melanism, and heterochromia which, in rare cases, can cause vision issues. â–¼
Extra Toes/Fingers: -→ This mutation allows your character to grow an extra toe or finger while in the egg. Dragons can have 1-2 extra toes on their feet, and dinosaurs can get 1-2 extra toes or fingers. The extra toes are only for display, and may in fact be a hinderance in some cases.
Heterochromia: (3) -→ Complete heterochromia: One iris is a different color than the other. For example, your character may have one blue eye and one brown eye.
-→ Segmental heterochromia: Different parts of one iris are different colors.
-→ Central heterochromia: The outer ring of your character's iris is a different color from the rest. This type of heterochromia is the most rare, and the most likely to leave a character with vision impairment.
Extra Plumage/No Plumage: -→ Dinosaurs in colder areas need plumage to survive. Without it, they would need to travel to a warmer biome for the winter. Traveling to accommodate their preferred temperature is easiest for solitary dinosaurs, as mass numbers would initiate a sort of migration. On the flip side, extra plumage in a hot place like the desert or the humid jungle leaves your character vulnerable to over-heating. This can be compensated for by taking mud baths, swimming, or moving to cooler areas in the summer, again an easier thing for a solitary animal to do.
Piebald: -→ Despite the off-putting appearance of large patches of a dinosaur or dragon's body being an unnatural white, this is not harmful to your character physically. However, just like with albinism or melanism, having bright white patches in a dark jungle makes you stick out like a sore thumb, making hunting very difficult. There are several variations of this condition ranging from small spots to almost full-body coverage.
Albinism: -→ Albinism and Melanism are nearing the territory of dangerous mutations. In albinism, your character will have no pigment on their bodies nor their eyes, wherein the iris is pink and the pupil is red. While very interesting to look at, hold your excitement. Albinism makes your character unable to protect their skin from ultraviolet rays and will sunburn easily. The usual daytime radiation from the sun also can cause additional damage to its already light-sensitive eyes. Not to mention, like with the piebald mutation, this mutation can take away a predator's element of surprise, as well as take away an ambush predator's greatest asset; their camouflage. Albinism isn't too rare, but less creatures grow to adulthood with this mutation for the reasons stated above.
Melanism: -→ Albinism and Melanism are nearing the territory of dangerous mutations. In melanism, there is a heavier amount of dark pigment in your character, making all colors and patterns appear in a shade of black. In general, the eyes can be any color, but are usually so darkened they appear brown or black. Aside from the darker color absorbing more heat, this mutation is another that leaves predator and prey alike more exposed to predators and/or failed hunts. Though they are not weak to ultraviolet light like an albino, they can overheat more quickly do to the dark pigment soaking up more heat.
Dangerous Mutations
While some of these dangerous mutations can be adjusted with your character learning their limitations, there are some in which no planning or caution can help you. â–¼
Blind: -→ This mutation will leave your character completely blind, relying only on hearing and smell. It's very common for blind eyes to be pale or colorless, however sometimes it can be hard to tell from a glance.
Eyeless: -→ A bit of a "step-up" from blindness, this mutation is caused by a faulty gene, or just bad luck. They have no eyeballs at all, and their skin covers their eye sockets entirely.
Clawless: -→ This mutation stops your dragon or dinosaur's claws from forming properly, if at all. What's left is only a stub where the claws should be. This is, clearly, a huge threat to survival in terms of hunting and fighting.
Dangerous Mutations Note: You can buy passes for Dangerous Mutations in the Scale Exchange, which will give you the option to "pass" a dangerous genetic mishap in a breeding situation.
