If you want to ask a question before you join the site or our discord,
there is a simple chatbox in the "Toggle Chatbox" section at the very bottom of your screen.
There's also a discord widget, but I'm very new to those. But we do have a fully-functioning Discord server!

The Three Followings
There are three well-established Followings that are led by one individual leader each and have their own set of laws and moral guides. Click on the territory names to be taken to a more detailed post of each Following.
Bewildered Cove is considered a "good" following led by a just and patient ruler.
The Wise Longplains are considered a "neutral" following, and are led by a new leader taking the place of his late mother.
The Lawful Marsh is considered another "neutral/strict" following, led by a very old spinsorus who deals in fairness and justice, never taking sides.
10/13/2023 We're finally opening! Please visit THIS page, as it explains we're doing a sort of "soft-launch" and are welcoming any keen eyes that find issues we may have missed as you go through the site making your characters and writing. Thank you for visiting, or thank you for joining! Also in the welcome page you'll find our discord server.

THE LAWS OF THE MESOZOIC
â–¼
ℜ
These rules MUST be read; they're short and simplified, so please don't skim. If there is a change to any rule, their will be a site-wide private message (PM) sent to only OOC accounts to let everyone know so there are no accidental rule-breaks.
Any and all changes will be made clear if they occur.
Last Update: October 25th, 2023
The Basics
â–¼
Be respectful and kind. Treat everyone as you wish to be treated, golden rule as they say.
Cursing is allowed, but please don't be excessive.
You must be 13+ and follow Proboards' TOS.
No racial, political, religious, or other touchy topics are to be discussed on the site. We're here to roleplay, not argue. Take those conversations elsewhere. → Also, it goes without saying that if any insult or slur is said to anyone, you are instantly banned. Your characters can be hateful, but it's best to avoid using the offensive comment directly, instead write something like: "he/she muttered a slur under his/her breath".
The site functions in a 1 account per character systemto keep things neat. After you post your character's biography from your OOC account and they've been accepted, you can create the character's account.
Make your OOC account first, and be sure to check it often as they will be the accounts you get updates on. Your character accounts won't get messaged with updates about site changes.
We have a strike system in place for infractions. Your OOC account will get the strike or a lesser warning depending on what rule you've broken. Bans, strikes, and warnings are categorized as follows: (Click on the spoilers for details)
1. →Cursing at someone. This is a slap on the wrist. While many friends do this in playful jest, here on the internet we can't always tell you're joking. Try to incorporate teasing; an "lol" can change the whole tone of a message. The warning will wear off if the behavior ceases.
2. →Honest mistakes. If you for example write a sentence that controls or assumes another character's action, so long as it's just one sentence and the post does not go on to follow this trend we will bring it to your attention as a warning. Some impulsive characters can be the cause of such an mistake, and learning when to end that character's post can help you avoid this. The warning will wear off if the behavior ceases.
3. →Nagging for biography acceptance. There are only two main staff as of the time the site opening, and both are in the same time zone. There will be times when no one is on to accept your character. Instead of messaging one of the staff or "hinting" at the character being done, you can check our staff's time zones. They're visible so you know what time it is for that staff and can take the time to instead double check your biography before posting it. The warning will wear off if the behavior ceases.
1. → You issued a challenge and then attempted an attack without prior agreement.
2. → You used a graphic (photo manip) against the owner's permission. This means if someone made you a table on a different site and doesn't want you using it elsewhere, you will receive a strike if we hear from the original artist. You can re-create these yourself of course, but you must send us the original image and your image side-by-side so we can confirm it's not a direct copy.
1. →Slurs or direct intolerance to another member is an instant ban.
2. →Detailed breeding scenes are an instant ban.
3. → If you've collected two strikes and a warning, the staff will likely decide to ban you as this shows you have little care for the site's rules. Honest mistakes will be a factor against this decision as no one is perfect.

Characters & Threading
â–¼
You have 5 character slots, but after that you need to buy an extra slot to make/adopt any more characters afterwards. You can get these slots as prizes during events or buy them from the Scale Exchange.
No GModding, Powerplaying, ect. It's only allowed if the character's owner makes an OOC note before the other person posts confirming it was an agreed upon action to avoid confusion.
Cussing in character is allowed, but add "/M" to the thread title if it's excessive over many posts. The same goes for gore and violence; if it gets too heavy, maybe edit an "/M" into the title.
We Have a Requirement of At Least 100 words; Please try to write at least 100 words per post. Give your roleplay partner something to work with. → All level of writers are welcome, but for beginners who want to learn tips and tricks about writing and roleplaying, we encourage you to message staff or other members and ask us to help you grow in skill. We're here to help, after all.
Liquid Time is allowed, though there is a limit of 3 threads. Liquid time means you can have up to 3 active threads with the same character at once, but you must keep a track of what order the threads take place in a timeline to prevent your character from knowing things that haven't happened yet and other such complications.
Threads need to be tagged accordingly. They are as follows:
{O} → Open/All welcome threads. There may be a cap on how many can join, so please make sure you read the opening post's note before replying.
{P} → Private threads. Only those tagged can reply. You may ask to join these, but do not push to get involved.
{/M} → "/M" can be added to the end of any other tag to warn of mature content. For example: {P/M}. Anything too graphic should fade to black, though we have a higher leniency for gore/violence. Still, the mature tag can be a warning of gore and violence to those who aren't into gore.
{Group} → Only members of the named groups/factions can reply unless a +1 is brought by a character with prior agreement.
{Birth} → When a mother is due and after the babies are decided upon, you'll have a week to make a non-graphic birth thread to make these hatchlings official characters. This will usually open with the eggs already laid and the mother tending to them.

FOLLOWINGS & GROUPS
â–¼
There are currently 3 Followings.
A Following is a colony of dinosaurs or dragons (and sometimes both combined) that is led by a megafauna dragon or an elder dinosaur. The megafauna offers protection, territory, and oversees important matters like how intruders and new members are treated. While small groups, clans, and factions can exist, the majority of species belong to one of the three Followings due to the protection they offer. Many social species of either clade (Dinosauria and draconia) will seek out one of these territories and find comfort in the countless other members that surround them.
You can read about the three followings by clicking here, and below is a brief summary.
Bewildered Cove:Led by a female Bewilderbeast who formally goes by Lumi Regina; this following is for dragons and dinosaurs, and is considered a "good" alliance. Lumi, as she is called by her followers, takes great care of all her subordinates. She will hunt massive amounts of fish and return to her cove to share the bounty. She is accepting of outsiders, though your intentions must be proved non-violent before she accepts you.
Wise Longplains: Led by a young Argentinasaurus named Diligens who has just recently taken dominance after his mother's passing, he is shaping up to be a kind but stern leader. Though he accepts dragons and dinosaurs into his territory, carnivores of both species are only allowed to feed outside of his land, a reminder to them all that the herd is not food. He is well-liked by his herd, and his following is considered a "neutral" alliance. He tries not to take sides against other megafauna, but will defend his territory against any and all threats.
Lawful Marsh: This following is a much more no-nonsense place than the Bewilderbeast's and Argentinasaurus' followings. Led by an aging Spinosaurus named Avus who doesn't accept disrespect in his territory, this means respecting each other and even more so your superiors is key to finding a safe home here. His followers have only so much say in what they do with their lives, only having time to themselves after all tasks are finished to Avus' liking. His following is considered "neutral", but many call it "neutral-strict" to define Avus' tactics of ruling. While not one to start a fight, Avus is not afraid to finish one.
